New Business Case for Green Buildings

New Business Case for Green Buildings
USGBC.org has launched new statistics, quotes from LEED users that demonstrate the business case for green building.
LEED is a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design green building rating system. LEED certificate provides independent, third party verification that building project is environmentally responsible, profitable and healthy place to live and work.
This new business case for green building will provide Competitive Differentiators, Mitigate Risk, Attract Tenants, Cost Effective and can Increase Rental Rates.

More information about this business case will get at: http://www.usgbc.org/DisplayPage.aspx?CMSPageID=2331

Houston Is Green

Incentive Program for Commercial Buildings Creates Financial Opportunity for a Greener Houston.

The city of Houston is partner of Clinton Climate Initiative (CCI) and Geo technology Research Institute/ Houston Advanced Research Center (GTRI/HARC) has launched first energy efficiency incentive program for commercial buildings.

To significantly reduce Houston's emissions of greenhouse gases  and air pollutants, Houston city is coming with some realistic programs specially in building and transportation section.  The city of Houston will commit approximate $3 million to Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) as a initial funding for this program.

Eligible businesses and building owners may apply for funding to make permanent energy efficiency improvements. A certified energy manager must perform energy audit and make energy efficiency recommendations. Your window films play important role in conserving energy. You can get some suggestions about your window tint from Solar Control Films. You will get free Energy Audit from SCF. Contact today and ask them about your present tint and most energy efficient tint. Tint Depot is a good tint provider in Houston.

So hurry up and do your energy audit today. If possible use good and energy efficient window tint

Happy New Year!!!

SOLAR HEAT GAIN CO-EFFICIENT IS IMPORTANT WHILE SELECTING A WINDOW TINT!
I was quite busy in last few days. I was researching some new technologies in tinting world. I like the article "Statements of Infrared Rejection may Confuse Customers published by AIMCAL-Window Film Committee." This is the article at International Window Film Association.

Some countries several manufacturers list fake reports of Infrared Rejection percentage to promote their products. But in U.S. market, where the Solar Heat Gain Co-efficient (SHGC) is exists. The use of IR rejection values are not necessary. The effect of Infrared Rejection depends on which wavelengths are rejected and there is no standard set determining which wavelengths are meant by an IR rejection percentage. Accordingly IR rejection percentage does not offer a complete picture of Solar Heat Control.

Below is the diagram of Solar Energy Distribution. SHGC predicts the heat gain of the total contribution of all three spectral regions of Solar Light. UV, Visible Light and Near Infrared Radiation. Thus SHGC provides only valid evaluation of total solar heat gain of a fenestration product.

Most of the distributor and supplier of window tint do not even know about this fact. But Mr. Phillip Hollocher who owns a Solar Control Films has very good knowledge about solar control films. You can contact him through their website solarcontrolfilmsinc.com for more information. Some other tint suppliers also provide good information regarding IR rejection and SHGC.

I hope this post is helpful for you and you are most welcome to post your comments and suggestions.
Have a healthy year!
